Export data: scope and download checks

Export Data downloads a bundle of data for all mates on your host. Save what you need before service ends, then check the completed file and its contents.

Open the management dashboard → Host Operations → Host maintenance tools → Export Data. Exporting leaves host data in place and does not cancel your subscription.

Contents and limits

The export collects existing mate data directories, including work files, conversations, memory and notes. It is not a full host image or a ready-made migration and restore bundle.

Some credential and deployment files are excluded: auth.json, openclaw.json, the credentials directory, some environment and token files, Docker Compose settings and state-backup directories. To keep a state backup separately, download it under State backups.

Export data

1. Select Export Data, read the description and select Confirm.
2. Wait when you see Creating backup, download will begin shortly…. Large exports can take longer.
3. Check your browser’s download list for a completed .tar.gz file, then find it on your computer.
4. Open it with an archive tool and check that the mate data and files you need are present. Keep the original export and organise a separate copy.

Use the browser’s completed-download record to confirm success. If expected files are missing, contact support before disabling the service or changing data.

If the download fails

• The host is busy with another operation. Please try again later.: wait for maintenance to finish and check existing downloads before exporting again.
• Operation failed, please try again later. or an interrupted download: check your sign-in and available space on your computer, enter the dashboard again and retry once.
• Continued failure or a disabled host: contact support with the host domain, operation time and exact error. Do not attach the full export.
