Check mate status: health, leave and restart
Check a mate’s status and health card before waking, pausing or restarting her from Manage. These controls affect only the selected mate.
Open the management dashboard → Mate Settings. Select All to compare mates, or select a mate’s card. You can also open her page from her name in the sidebar.
Status and stop reasons
Use the status text with the dot, not colour alone.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OK or Running | The container is running. Check model availability and an actual reply as well. |
| Starting or One moment please | Startup is in progress. Wait for an updated status. |
| Health check failing | The container runs but failed its health check. Investigate the cause. |
| Stopped; Today says “On leave. Check in on her when you get a chance.” | Intentionally paused until you wake her. |
| Stopped; Today says “Not running. Go take a look.” | The stop has not been marked intentional. Check status and logs. |
Read the health card
These figures describe one mate, unlike whole-host resources.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Recent activity and 24h chats | Latest activity and conversation count over 24 hours. |
| Up | Time since startup. Repeated resets can indicate a restart loop. |
| 30d tokens | Model usage over 30 days. See Usage for details; this is not a bill. |
| RAM | Used memory and its configured limit, separate from remembered information. |
| Cores | CPU cores used now and the configured limit. |
| CPU | The last 60 seconds’ average and the current value, relative to the mate’s limit. On arrival, the average uses available samples. With no limit, 100% means one core. |
| Disk and version | Space for work data and the program image, plus the current version. |
The chart covers 8 hours in 5-minute intervals. On a computer, hover over it to see peak and average values. Cards use the same scale. A dash or Collecting data means data is unavailable, not zero usage.
Wake, pause or restart
Open the mate in the sidebar → Manage → Container. Another route is Mate Settings → select a mate → More controls.
| Control | Effect and completion check |
|---|---|
| Wake Up | Select once, wait for a running status and check that she can reply. |
| Restart | Stops and starts her, with several seconds offline. Check her name in the confirmation, confirm and wait for health to recover. |
| Pause | Stops work until you wake her. Read the impact, tick the checkbox, confirm and wait for the stopped/on-leave status. |
For a stopped mate not yet marked on leave, Put on Leave appears. Use it if you intentionally stopped her. It records leave; it does not fix the stop. For a restart loop, Pause can stop the loop before investigation.
While on leave, failed schedules and waiting cards remain in her Work tab. Today hides them temporarily; wake her to handle them.
For failed controls or continuing problems, use Mate not responding. For names and pictures, see Mate preferences.
