v0.21.0 (v2026.8.31) — The Pantheon Release

Released: August 31, 2026 Theme: Multiple agents working as a team

A major release. It also rolls up the v0.20.1 to v0.20.6 patch tags. About 5,800 commits since v0.20.0.

Highlights

  • Bot Mode (desktop app): every agent gets a name and an avatar. Create group chats where several bots and you talk in one room, and @-mention any bot.
  • hermes peer: agents can message each other by handle, across profiles and gateways. Replies stay in each agent’s Bot Chat, so you can read them later.
  • Cron jobs that remember: scheduled agents load and update long-term memory. With continuity=true, each run’s output carries into the next. Every job has its own notepad. Monitor jobs skip the AI call when nothing changed.
  • Steerable subagents: delegate_task can list running subagents, steer one mid-flight, or stop it early and keep the partial result. Defaults rose to 250 iterations and 10 concurrent subagents.
  • MCP management page (desktop app): MCP servers and the catalog merged into one page, with background sign-in checks and per-server usage.
  • CLI: Ctrl+P command palette, /model filters as you type, /status shows reasoning mode, pending approvals and context usage, and the status bar can show cache-hit rate, latency and tokens per second.
  • Telegram: search every command and skill with @botname, so the Telegram command-menu limit no longer applies.
  • New providers and models: Meta Model API (Muse Spark), CommandCode, Tencent TokenPlan, Nebius Token Factory, Ramp Router and Actual Computer, plus GLM-5.3-Flash, qwen3.8, Gemini 3.7 Flash and more. model_overrides lets you change any model’s context window or pricing yourself.
  • Security: writes to AGENTS.md, skills and memory files always need approval, so a prompt-injected agent can’t quietly rewrite its standing orders. Secret redaction now covers terminal errors, .env reads, checkpoints and ACP logs.
