v0.22.2 — Patch release
Released: October 15, 2026 Theme: A patch release that replaces v0.22.1, which was built from the wrong commit
This is the release v0.22.1 was meant to be, plus the two fixes below. A machine that installed v0.22.1 returns to the release line when you run hermes update.
Highlights
- The gateway starts after a reboot again: after a Linux restart, an old process ID could be reused by another program, and the gateway mistook it for a running gateway and refused to start. Gateways managed by systemd, launchd or Docker were all affected. Hermes now records which boot it started in, and when it cannot tell, it checks the host lock, which only a live gateway holds.
- Steadier long local-model chats: local requests always stream, and the status line shows prompt-reading progress; time the computer was asleep no longer counts toward a timeout; a recovered local model server gets another try instead of failing every later message; compression no longer times out while the server is still reading a long chat.
- Other fixes: the bug fixes collected since v0.22.0, plus new community plugins.
Known issue: chats created under the v0.22.1 gateway cannot be deleted in v0.22.2.
