v0.21.7 — Patch release
Released: October 11, 2026 Theme: A patch release that rolls up about 204 merged PRs since v0.21.6
The full feature notes ship with v0.22.0.
Highlights
- Updates follow tagged releases: on a source install,
hermes updatenow moves to the latest published release instead of every new commit. An install that is already newer than the latest release stays where it is and is never moved back. To keep following every commit, runhermes update --set-channel main. - Update channel switch on desktop: Settings → About → Updates lets you pick “Stable releases” or “Every commit”, and the update dialog shows which channel you are on.
- Reasoning survives resume: when you pick up an old chat with
hermes chat --resume, or on the next turn in a messaging app, the model’s earlier reasoning comes along. - Updates no longer fail behind some firewalls: some regional firewalls made the update check fail with 403; that is fixed. The check uses your GitHub token when one is set and reports a GitHub rate limit as a rate limit.
- Other changes: plugins can run built-in desktop actions, skills installed mid-chat work without a restart, faster desktop updates, and new community plugins such as memory-shield, command-ledger and Model Router.
